Organizer Notes:

Given this date's proximity to the Anniversary of D-Day, I wanted make this a D-Day themed Tournament. This will be a 1750 point Late-War tournament but I would like to get the feedback from the participants of Wolfkrieg-2008 and our local Louisville Gaming Community as we further develop the concept for our Tournament on June 14th.

One of the key components I am looking to include into this event is to have the Air Drops (Seize & Hold) and Beach Landings (Hit the Beach) occur in Round 1, we would also use Hold the Line as an option for Round 1 where we otherwise might be limited by availability of beach boards, terrain, and the appropriate forces. Round 2 would be “Encounter” and Round 3 would be “Breakthrough.” The general idea is that we would simulate the initial assaults, then the forces trying to gain contact with each other and to develop the situation, and then at the end the Allies either attempting to seize their final Day 1 objectives or the Germans trying to breakthrough to cut off the beachheads.

As with Autumn Fire-08 & WolfKrieg-08 I would try to keep the 50/50 historical balance of Allies to German. By tracking the results throughout the day we can perhaps determine a "winning side" and see if history was rewritten. I would also like to see max usage of those units which we would not see as much at "standard" FoW Tournaments to include Assault, Ranger, Commando, and Festung companies. I know we would have to allow two lists to accommodate the special missions in Round 1 and we would need more time to execute Round 1 as Hit the Beach can be a 12 turn game.

So, I'd like to get your feedback on the following questions to further help us shape the concept for this tournament and determine what we may need to support it:

Key Concept Notes:

Victory Points, Army (Painting/History), and Sportsmanship will be judged.

Allowed Force Options are any FoW Official list for a unit that fought in the Normandy area from June 44 to August 44. Army Lists and Histories are due to the tournament organizer by June 7th 2008.

Allied Forces may use two versions of their list: A primary list that can be used in all rounds and one alternate list that will be used only in Round 1 in either a “Hit the Beach” or “Seize and Hold Mission.”

German Forces must have two versions of their list: A primary 1750pt list for all rounds, and a 1000pt list that will only be used in Round 1 if playing in a “Hit the Beach” mission.
